We’re born. We die. We meet. We leave.

We’re born. We die. We meet. We leave.

My host mother was talking to me a little bit about Buddhism today during her lunch break, and how she follows the rules of the monks, to try to be a good person. She says there are a lot of people in this country who are not good, and therefore are not happy. She has been a mid-wife for over 30 years, and has seen a lot of things. She has been offered several times, a lot of money to perform abortions, but she doesn’t believe in them and will not perform them. Yet, she will help people with miscarriages and won’t accept money for it. She says however, that there are many mid-wives out there who perform the abortions, because a lot of money can be made, as people will pay the money. She then went on to tell me, that in Buddhism, they believe that if they are a good person during their life, that when they die and are in heaven – they will know no age – and be happy for eternity; which is what she's hoping for. She has taken care of 10 miscarriages this week, and one today.
