May 30, 2010 World Map Progress

So I was thoroughly impressed, surprised and very proud of my students’ progress on the world map today. We arrived at the school around 1pm and I started instructing how to use the grid method to get the imagery onto the wall. By around 1:30 I had 16 students there who were all intently drawing each country, grid by grid, despite the hot sun pouring down on us. And to my surprise by 3:30pm they had the entire southern hemisphere completed and by 4:15 when we called it quits, all we had left were part of Canada, Greenland and Europe. I was completely amazed. I think that’s the fastest I’ve ever gotten anything done in Cambodia ha! Anyway, we’ll continue the drawing this week and hopefully get some paint up there and then save the labeling of the countries (another tedious task) for after the semester exams.
