ha. It has probably been over two hours or so. This is not a new phenomenon. If I wake from my slumber, the chances of me falling back asleep are very small for some reason. I don't know why it is and wish I knew how to change that.
Anyhow, one of the first things that I thought when I awoke was, "hmm, I'm kind of warm." Will must've felt the same way. I mean we do currently have a down comforter, along with this down blanket that keeps us warm at night. With that, I guess we did light our wood-stove tonight as it was a little cooler today than it has been the last week or so.
At any rate, Will cracked the window in our bedroom to let some cool, refreshing crisp mountain air into the bedroom. Ahhh--- that felt nice. I for sure thought I would've fallen asleep then. But I guess not. Apparently too many things (mostly exciting things) to think about that are running through that little brain of mine.
After he cracked the window, this thought occurred to me: "Well we're going to have to learn how to get used to sleeping in a hot climate. As there probably won't be that window just an arm's reach from the bed to crack open. Well, at least probably not a window to crack open that will let the type of cool breeze that I'm enjoying right now."
Having that thought occur to me, definitely started to wake me up and make my mind go a little bit more.
I've been reading some blogs of a few of the current volunteers (here are a few that are worth checking out: The Terrace or Kampuchea1) and it just made me think of their stories and wonder about the types of things that we'll encounter and the many people that we'll meet that will soon touch our lives in one way or another.
That's when I decided to proceed with my usual routine when I cannot sleep in the middle of the night which consists of:
- Getting a bowl of ice cream, (tonight's delight was cookies and cream [those that know me well, understand my deep obsession with ice cream])
- Either watching television, which wasn't an option tonight as the couch I usually snuggle on is covered with items we are packing up--- so I opted for 2b, which involved me enjoying my ice cream while spending time on my computer.......and I guess writing about my whole situation on this new blog thing.
Be as it may, hopefully I will soon get a little sleepy and crawl back into bed for a few more hours of rest.
In the meantime, I can honestly say that I will very truly miss both the cool mountain air at night as well as my proximity to a box (or gallon bucket) of ice cream.
Oh dear. it's starting to get light out. I had better try and get some sleep.
signing out for now ~ smb
